Commenting in the network editor

Note: You can only enter comments if your model is saved as a cloud model (Using cloud models).

You can add a comment to a location in the network editor or to a network object that is selected in the network editor. In the network editor, the symbol indicates the position of the comment. This allows you to identify the location or network object to which a comment belongs. Enter the text of the comment in the Comments window. The Comments window also displays information on comments and offers additional functions:

Add a comment to a network object

1.  In the network object bar, click the network object type of the network object that you want to comment on.

2.  In the network editor, click the network object.

The network object is marked in the network editor.

3.  Click Add comment symbol in the toolbar of the network editor.

If you point the mouse pointer into the network editor, the symbol is displayed at the mouse pointer.

4.  Click the selected network object with the mouse pointer.

The symbol for the comment is displayed in blue in the network object. The Comments window opens by default on the right-hand side.

5.  In the entry field, enter the desired comment.

6.  Click  Send.

The Comments window displays the type of comment, user, comment text and an input field for a reply.

7.  If you want to view the list of all comments, click Back.

If selected, the filter is active and not all comments are displayed.

8.  If desired, filter the comments or display them all (Filter comments).

Add a comment to a location

1.  Click Add comment symbol in the toolbar of the network editor.

If you point the mouse pointer into the network editor, the symbol is displayed at the mouse pointer.

2.  Click the desired position in the network editor with the mouse pointer.

The symbol for the comment is displayed in blue . The Comments window opens by default on the right-hand side.

3.  In the entry field, enter the desired comment.

4.  Click  Send.

The Comments window displays the type of comment, user, comment text and an input field for a reply.

5.  If you want to display the type and coordinate row by row, click next to the title of the comment.

Answer comment

You and others can reply to comments. This creates a thread. You can mark these as completed (Resolve thread of a comment).

1.  Click the desired comment in the network editor.

2.  In the entry field, enter the desired comment.

3.  Click  Send.

If you display the list of comments in the Comments window, the number in the Show more (number) row is incremented for this comment.

Edit or delete your comment or reply

If the thread for a comment is open in the Comments window and the first comment and replies to it are displayed below each other, you can edit or delete your entries. The thread must not be marked as closed (Resolve thread of a comment), (Reopen a closed thread for a comment).

1.  Click the desired comment in the network editor.

2.  In the Comments window, point to the desired entry in the list of entries with the mouse pointer.

The symbols and are displayed.

3.  Click the desired symbol.

Show list of comments in the Comments window

If the Comments window is not displayed, enable the display:

  • ►  From the menu, choose View > Comments.

If a comment is open in the Comments window, switch back to the list:

  • ►  In the Comments window, click  Back.

Show or hide comment symbols in the network editor

You can show or hide the symbol at all comments.

  • ►  Select View > Show comment icons from the menu.

Show thread for a comment

If a comment is open and there are replies, these are displayed one below the other and form a thread. You can:

If the list of all comments is displayed, you can display the thread with all replies to a desired comment in the Comments window.

1.  Show the list of comments (Show list of comments in the Comments window).

2.  If desired, restrict the list of comments (Filter comments).

3.  Click Show more (number) for the desired comment.

The thread opens and displays the replies under the original comment.

Resolve thread of a comment

1.  Click the desired comment in the network editor.

2.  In the Comments window, click  Resolve thread.

Tip: Alternatively, you can click in the list of comments in the corresponding comment and select  Resolve.

Reopen a closed thread for a comment

If the thread for a comment is resolved,  is displayed in its title.

1.  Click the desired comment in the network editor.

2.  In the Comments window at the top, click  Reopen thread.

You and other users can reply again. Replies can be edited (Edit or delete your comment or reply) and the thread can be resolved again (Resolve thread of a comment)

Tip: Alternatively, you can click in the list of comments in the corresponding comment and select  Reopen thread.

Delete thread and comment

1.  Click the desired comment in the network editor.

2.  Click  Delete thread at the top of the Comments window.

3.  Confirm with Yes.

The comment is no longer displayed in the network editor. Comment and thread are no longer displayed in the Comments window.

Tip: Alternatively, you can click in the list of comments in the corresponding comment and select  Delete thread.

Filter comments

You can filter the list of comments according to the following criteria and thus restrict it or display all comments again:

  • Comments in the currently open Visum network
  • Comments that exist in the model's networks if it has several networks as part of scenario management
  • Comments that are relevant to you because you have added them and your user name is included
  • Comments with status Active or Resolved

1.  In the Comments window, select the desired Current network or Model tab.

2.  Click  Show filter.

3.  Click All or the desired status Active or Resolved.

4.  If desired, activate the For me option.

Search in comments

1.  If desired, filter the comments (Filter comments).

2.  In the Search field, enter the desired text.

The search starts and the comments containing the text you are looking for are displayed.
